[Verse] Cruisin' down the avenue, the city lights a-blur Your hand’s on the wheel but I’m steering, girl, it's all a little unsure Backseat blues, your whispers like static on the line But I got a melody that’s groovin’, gonna turn this moment fine [Pre-Chorus] Oh, don’t you feel it rising? Every word we’re compromising Turn it up, let’s find the sweet spot we been missing [Chorus] Sing it loud, sing it proud, let the heartbreak fly away In this funky rhythm, we’re dancing pain into play Backseat breakup, now a comeback, hear us all say— Love’s a groove, not a crime, and tonight, we’re okay [Verse] Eyes on the street, reflections in the rain You’re talkin’ ‘bout the past, but I’m singing through the strain Velvet voice in the silence, crisp like morning air Our story’s a rhythm that’s twisting through the midnight flair [Pre-Chorus] Oh, don’t you feel it rising? Every word we’re compromising Turn it up, let’s find the sweet spot we been missing [Chorus] Sing it loud, sing it proud, let the heartbreak fly away In this funky rhythm, we’re dancing pain into play Backseat breakup, now a comeback, hear us all say— Love’s a groove, not a crime, and tonight, we’re okay [Bridge] Throw your hands up, shake the sorrow, We got funk power ‘til tomorrow Every note’s a shot of healing, vibrating, revealing From the backseat to the spotlight, We’re dancing through the midnight fight Your heart and mine in syncopation, a joyful celebration [Chorus] Sing it loud, sing it proud, let the heartbreak fly away In this funky rhythm, we’re dancing pain into play Backseat breakup, now a comeback, hear us all say— Love’s a groove, not a crime, and tonight, we’re okay [Outro] (Oh-oh-oh, we’re okay) Backseat breakup turned a sing-along, (Oh-oh-oh, we’re okay) Groovin’ all night long.
