[Verse] Midnight’s creeping low, the stars don’t make a sound Old dog by my side, standing guard around Truck’s humming soft, engine breathin’ slow Dreams roll in deep where the moonlight won’t go [Pre-Chorus] You feel that quiet, like a secret in the air Two shadows holdin’ close, ain’t no danger anywhere [Chorus] Old dog’s watchin’, eyes like burning coal Keeps the night from breaking, guards my weary soul Sleepin’ in the driver’s seat, dreams heavy and blue Old dog’s watchin’, and I’m countin’ on you [Verse] Whiskey on my breath, and the road’s far behind Every step I took, that dog was never blind Through the silence thick, through the fear and doubt There’s a comfort in the dark when you’re holdin’ out [Pre-Chorus] You feel that steady, like a heartbeat close and true A friend in the shadows, who’s always lookin’ out for you [Chorus] Old dog’s watchin’, eyes like burning coal Keeps the night from breaking, guards my weary soul Sleepin’ in the driver’s seat, dreams heavy and blue Old dog’s watchin’, and I’m countin’ on you [Bridge] When the morning breaks, and the sunlight floods the ground That faithful friend still stands, won’t make a single sound In this smoky night, in this quiet, soft and slow Old dog’s watchin’, love’s all I’ll ever know [Chorus] Old dog’s watchin’, eyes like burning coal Keeps the night from breaking, guards my weary soul Sleepin’ in the driver’s seat, dreams heavy and blue Old dog’s watchin’, and I’m countin’ on you [Chorus] Old dog’s watchin’, eyes like burning coal Keeps the night from breaking, guards my weary soul Sleepin’ in the driver’s seat, dreams heavy and blue Old dog’s watchin’, and I’m countin’ on you [Outro] Yeah, I’m countin’ on you... Old dog’s watchin’ through the night so true.
